About
Meet Dee
Dee is the founder of Dawn to Day, who is a professional counsellor. Her passion is to help many people in the community. Supporting those that need help.
Dee was born and raised in Zimbabwe. She had 4 children with her husband who unexpectedly passed away in 2001. Left with unresolved issues and unanswered questions, Dee was supported through this loss by her close family and connections she had built around her. Eventually those unanswered questions became a part of her story and not inhibiting baggage. Amidst of this, Dee became the sole provider of her children. She eventually moved to Sydney, Australia in 2005 to work as a nurse, which was a particularly challenging time as she had to leave her children back home for them to join her over the next couple of years. Over time, whilst putting aside her own passions to ensure security for her family Dee had to adjust to her new environment and different culture, she was now a part of. Dee developed strong community connections and has since been able to pursue new passions as a result.
Dee has over 30 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse. Having worked in various nursing settings i.e., hospital, aged care etc. She gained experience and passion in a role where she frequently had to utilise informal counselling techniques which patients and/or their families.
Dee then acquired a Graduate Diploma in Counselling.
Dee is also passionate about community services and mentorship especially in spaces of women’s wellbeing and various women’s organisations.
