Relationship Counselling
Why should I consider relationship counselling?
Regardless of the nature or relationship, or how long you have been in relationship with each other; this form of counselling is of benefit to you. Relationship counselling helps you better understand the strengths within your relationship and the areas where growth is needed. You will be in an environment where you are encouraged to not only learn about your partner but also about yourself especially in the context of relating to others. This means that relationship counselling can promote self-awareness and allow you to develop the necessary skills that help remove blind spots that are particularly damaging to any relationship.
Many couples and family members leave it too long to seek counselling in the hope that their problems will somehow resolve themselves. However, research has indicated that the sooner you identify the underlying problems and start addressing them, the more likely you are to reach a good outcome.
There are some key indicators that your relationship needs attention:
-
Communication breakdown: do you find that you are struggling with open communication, or you feel as though all discussions/arguments often go unresolved.
-
Decrease in time spent together and intimacy: whether you’re finding that spending time with each other is getting harder, or you see that either party is lacking intimacy within the relationship.
You shouldn’t be ashamed in seeking help, putting the time and energy into your relationship shows that you value your relationship with your partner.
